The Associated Press: "An American soldier returning from a patrol became the 100th fatality in the U.S. military's two-year Afghan campaign when his vehicle collided with a truck, highlighting the dangers facing U.S. forces in a nation roiled by a stubborn Taliban insurgency."

It is probably safer to be an American soldier in Afghanistan than a citizen of a major American city.
