A vehicle for venting on philosophy, religion, and the general state of things. Proprietor: C. W. Powell

I have been away for a week to the spring meeting of the South Central Classis of the Reformed Church in the U. S. Two significant decisions were made concerning my family, for which I praise God. My youngest son, Matthew, was licensed to preach the gospel. We look forward to his ordination which should take place pretty soon now. My second son Samuel, who still has three years of seminary left, was given a limited license to preach at Calhan and he was made stated supply there for three years, at which time he will be finished with seminary and eligible for regular ordination. Both sons have served as elders in the RCUS, Sam for about 15 years. Needless to say, I am very proud of both of them.
FOXNews.com - Top Stories - University Says Blood Drive Biased Against Gays: "'There may be less blood in the blood supply, or we can continue to have a world full of hate and discrimination,' said Shauna Bates (search), student senator at WOU. "
----------
Can you believe this. So now love means that you don't have blood to treat sickness and disease because sodomites want to be legitimatized. Dirt means clean and clean means dirty. Good is evil and evil is good. Long live Hegel, irrationalism, and man's desire to do as he pleases and the results be damned!

New York Daily News - Ideas & Opinions - Editorials: Oil-for-graft at the UN: "Kofi Annan has some explaining to do, and he knows it. Now that it's no longer possible to maintain with half a straight face that the United Nations' humanitarian oil-for-food program in Saddam Hussein's Iraq was not mercilessly looted, Secretary General Annan concedes that 'it is highly possible there has been quite a lot of wrongdoing.'"
----------
See, this blog has maintained that the the true greed-for-oil movement in the world was the European/UN anti-Iraq War movement. Any Halburton overcharge for oil during the war is peanuts compared to the rip off of the Oil for Food program. And Secretary Kofi Annan was one of the main beneficiaries. But have you seen that on your TV screen?
An eye-opener from Blix - The Washington Times: Editorials/OP-ED: "Hans Blix has pounded the final nail in the coffin of left-wing bilge that has despicably charged President Bush and his administration with lying about intelligence on WMD in Iraq. In fact, in his new book, 'Disarming Iraq,' Mr. Blix acknowledges that he also believed that Iraq had failed for years to comply with its post-Gulf War (1991) obligation to destroy its WMD. "
-----
Well, then. I hope he sells a lot of books, in spite of one of my recent blogs. [See, Calvinists can admit to error.]
Social Studies (03/19/2004): "'United Nations' is an oxymoron. Democracies and dictatorships are mongoose and cobra, with no real hope of uniting except opportunistically. But a community of democracies -- that might just work. It already works in NATO and the E.U. The new community is a fledgling, but many readers of this article may live to see it soar. "
--------
Intriging. But can one humanist idolatry really be better than another one? But we do not find perfection in the world, and certainly Casto is not the moral equivilent of, say, Tony Blair. Why should two-bid murderers and thugs have a disproportionate voice in the world?
baltimoresun.com - Don't equate black, gay struggles: "The black civil rights movement was a fight for the basic right to live or to walk down the street without the fear of being humbled, beaten or killed by any white person who got it into his or head to do so.

"The current attempts by gays to have their marriages recognized by state authorities does not compare with that effort.
Look at the fearful faces of black boys and girls who first integrated schools and compare them with the faces at Rosie O'Donnell's wedding in San Francisco, and talk to me about that comparison. "
-------------
Finally. I wondered how long it would be before people began to see that being a sodomite and being black are not comparable conditions. To think so is to greatly cheapen the black race. God never sent down fire and brimstone upon a black city; He did on Sodom and Gomorrah. It is no sin to be black; sodomy is a war against the image of God. If black leaders endorse sodomites to gain support for their agenda, both will be lost.

Christianity is at a low ebb right now, and seems to be losing the conflict on many fronts. But that is one "seeming" that will never translate into reality, because the resurrection of Christ gurarantees the continual revival of the faith and robust Christianity, as history shows. Christ was put into the grave, and His church has been relegated to the dust heap many, many times. The future does not belong to Sodom and Lesbos. You can count on it. The things on this earth cannot affect the heavenly rule of Jesus Christ.

"That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.... Ephesians 1.
Bush-friendly 'news' flashes controversial: "'This concerns me that we didn't see this for what it was. This was a one-sided story,' Veazey said. 'It was clearly labeled. Our people screwed up. This is where the editorial gate was wide open - and we gave them the key. We're not a conduit or pass-through for public relations firms.'"
----
Nope, not unless the PR firm is the Democratic National Convention. What a terrible shock for a TV station, to think that their news is unbalanced! My! My! My! How can they live with themselves!
Bush's Campaign Emphasizes Role of Leader in War: "'I'm not going to worry about them misleading because we're going to just keep pounding away at the truth,' Mr. Kerry told the crowd of veterans, "
---------
But don't worry. Mr. Kerry will continue to pound away at the truth, but the truth can take it.
Bush's Campaign Emphasizes Role of Leader in War: "Mr. Kerry added, 'I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it,' referring to an amendment he supported that would have rescinded some tax cuts to finance the war."

An Hegelian, speaking Hegelian, to Hegelians, making Hegelian sense only to Hegelians. However, there are still plenty of Americans who know when someone is throwing dust in their eyes.
Church Jury Acquits Gay Methodist Pastor - EarthLink - U.S. News: "BOTHELL, Wash. - A lesbian Methodist pastor was acquitted Saturday in a church trial over her sexual orientation, and will be allowed to continue her ministry.
After about 10 hours of deliberations, a jury of 13 pastors ruled in favor of the Rev. Karen Dammann, 47, who disclosed three years ago that she was in a homosexual relationship. Eleven pastors found her not guilty and two were undecided. "
-------------
Of course. If the words of the Bible are not binding upon the conscience of one who professes to be a Christian, then why should church law, or civil law, make any difference? Why doesn't everyone just do what is right in his own eyes? Why does anything make any difference at all? "I mean well" is the greatest purgative for destructive behavior in the history of the world, greater than any of the religious potions sold in the indulgence markets of the papacy. Furthermore, the purgative is free, requiring no bishops, no priests, no penance, and no accountability, but unilaterally absolves us of any accountability. We descend into a stew of moral and spiritual decadence of chaos and ruin, unable to make moral decisions at all. God gives us over to a reprobate mind, all the while affirming that unlike us, His mind is not decadent, which does not bode well for our future. It should be abundantly clear now that the Methodist Church is apostate and anyone with decency and love for God should renounce their membership and withhold every dime. The candle is out.
