Have I missed something? It's the fault of the U.S. that Iraqi Shiites want to kill Sunnis and vice versa. What a great religion Islam is. Maybe it would be a good idea to just have a refereed free-for-all over there and let them kill each other. Save us the trouble later on perhaps.

Makes you wish for the good old days of Charlemagne. Invade the heathen, pacify the country with sufficent force, destroy the idol temples, then send in the missionaries. Beats the present system.

But we moderns think that history started when we were born and no generation was ever as smart as we are.

Or least we could choose between the S.O.B.'s that didn't like us and the S.O.B.'s that did. But Jimmy Carter was really smart and got rid of our S.O.B. in Iran so now we have to deal with somebody's else's S.O.B.

Christians need to regain their voice and quit apologizing for themselves. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation and we ought not to be ashamed of it. To the extent that we are ashamed the more we look like the heathen who do not know the power of God, but worship that which is no God.

"Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

"This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." --St. Peter on the Day of Pentecost. Acts 4.

Land Of The Fake, CBS’ Meyer On A Search For Authenticity In American Politics - CBS News: "Similarly, an important quality public people who garner our confidence seem to share is an ability to be genuine and b.s.-free. It's hard to come up with a long list, but a short list might include John McCain, pre-Bush Colin Powell, Don Imus, Jon Stewart and Oprah Winfrey. "
==========
When a phony begins to get irritated over phoniness, the whole business gets really interesting. McCain authentic? Imus authentic? Poor Colin Powell got unaunticized by Bush? Your phony politics is [are?] showing, Meyer. Get real, as the kids might say.
