Russians seek to put restrictions on NGOs - Europe - International Herald Tribune: "MOSCOW Russia moved Wednesday to impose greater government control over charities and other nongovernmental organizations, including some of the world's most prominent, in what critics described as the Kremlin's latest effort to stifle civil society and democracy"

Totalitarian states are boringly predictible. When the state claims the divine attributes of solving everyone's problems, then it must have no competition--even religion and charity must come under the control of the state. It is a bit ironic, however, that organizations such as the Ford Foundation, Greenpeace, and Amnesty International which are generally liberal organizations with statist objectives are found to operate "under the cover of implementing humanitarian and educational programs in Russians regions, [and] ... lobby for the interests of certain countries and gather classified information on a wide range of issues." [Nikolai Paturshev, director of the Federal Security Service (Russia)].

TorontoSun.com - Toronto And GTA - Hatred blinds U.S. to truth: Journalist: "'If we stop trying to figure out the other side, we've given up. The person on the other side is not evil -- they just have a different perspective.' "
=========

This is the basic trouble with liberals, represented by the Chris Matthews quote above. Liberalism does not accept the idea of evil. The rapist, the murderer, the pedophile, thugs like Hitler and Saddam just have different "perspectives". We need to understand them.

We do understand, Chris. What is there to understand? We know what the perspective of Al Queda is. Islamists want us dead, the United States destroyed and turned into an Islamic state ruled by the Mullahs. Now it may be that Chris and his crowd have annulled in their minds the Ten Commandments, but there are a lot of us out here who think that wanting Jews and Christians to be dead is evil. We believe in the devil and we believe that there are people who do the devil's work. Al Qaeda are not the only such people who think it is ok to break the Ten Commandments, but its a start to understand that there is evil in the world. Hatred and murder are the devil's work, according to Jesus who said that the devil was a liar and a murderer from the beginning and liars and murderers do their father's work.

If you cannot understand the basic principles of morality, then people shouldn't listen to you.
