A vehicle for venting on philosophy, religion, and the general state of things. Proprietor: C. W. Powell

Brent Bozell: Memo to the GOP: Where are you?: "The other day, John Kerry had finished addressing the American Society of Newspaper Editors convention and was greeting participants when the C-SPAN camera caught one woman, presumably a member of the Fourth Estate, gushing to the Democratic candidate, 'You've got my vote!' There's no surprise here. It's almost impossible to distinguish between Democrats and journalists in their passion to elect Kerry and defeat Bush. "
----------------
Yes, indeed. We have long known that CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN are unabashed propaganda instruments for the Democratic Party, along with the faculties of the law schools and higher educational establishments.

uReach.com: "New evidence out of Iraq suggests that the U.S. effort to track down Saddam Hussein's missing weapons of mass destruction (WMD) is having better success than is being reported. "
-----------
Take that, Hans Blix!
Excite News: "Al Gore, dipping into his 2000 campaign warchest, said Wednesday he will donate more than $6 million to five Democratic Party groups and help presumptive nominee John Kerry fight the 'outrageous and misleading' Republican campaign."
----------
Well, why not? He has made a career of aiding a supporting charlatans and liars.
DallasNews.com | News for Dallas, Texas | Opinion: Editorials: "The problem isn't that Mr. Kerry may have performed a dramatic act in the name of principle more three decades ago. It's that his backtracking since then suggests he may not have the firmest grasp on the meaning of the word. "
----------
Well said in the Dallas News.
William F. Buckley: Dumb, Dumbest: "That lesson in nice, reductionist, idiomatic thought brings to mind the current impasse. It is vividly introduced by the April 26 headline on the front page of the New York Times: 'MILITANTS IN EUROPE OPENLY CALL/ FOR JIHAD AND THE RULE OF ISLAM.' The lengthy dispatch speaks of young Arab militants, beginning with one representative group in Luton, England. Some of its members are quoted: 'They say they would like to see Prime Minister Tony Blair dead or deposed and an Islamic flag hanging outside No. 10 Downing Street.' "

If an organization, a nation, a church, cannot enforce its own vision and reason for existence, it doesn't deserve to exist, and will not for long.
Dennis Prager: Pat Tillman, one of the 36: "Thank God that much of America is talking about and revering the name Pat Tillman. That means we still have hope. A society's moral temperature can be measured in part by whom it celebrates. And for much of my lifetime, the greatest adoration has been showered on the narcissistic and the shallow -- from Britney Spears to Barry Bonds to Norman Mailer."
------------------
A great eulogy for a great American from my favorite Jew, Dennis Prager.
Brent Bozell: The pro-indecency lobby: "This last one comes from NBC president Robert Wright, who wrote a passionate editorial in the Wall Street Journal claiming the TV elite are the titans of 'creative integrity,' and must not be protested. 'Ultimately, we have much less to fear from obscene, indecent or profane content than we do from an overzealous government willing to limit First Amendment protections and censor creative free expression. That would be indecent,' Wright insisted. "
------------
This is the mind-set of the sixties. Turn everything upside down, re-label vulgarity and obscenity, make evil good and good evil. Opposites are both valid, and truth comes from the dialectics. Because the church has bought into the idea that the Bible contains contradictions, there is no defense from the church, except empty moralisms.

The only absolute that the rebels of the sixties know is this one: I have the right to do as I please, whenever, whatever, however. All who restrain me are pigs.
Thomas Sowell: Bait-and-switch media: " I was invited on as a guest to talk about my new book, 'Affirmative Action Around the World.' But when I phoned in for the interview while the program was on the air, I discovered that another guest was already waiting in ambush, talking about a wholly different topic, minimum wage laws.
When I asked the hostess whether I was on the program to discuss minimum wage laws and she said that I was, I knew that this was the old bait-and-switch game that I had encountered many times over the years."
---------------
Thomas Sowell speaks about the unethical behavior of the liberal press. Isn't it something? These advocates of "fairness" and "equity" are themselves servants of corruption, as the apostle said.
Commentary - Special Article: "The final perfidy, though, is not personal but political. The UN, in the name of its own lofty principles, and to its rich emolument, actively helped sustain and protect a tyrant whose brutality and repression were the cause of Iraqi deprivation in the first place. What can this mean? The answer may be simply that, along with its secrecy, its massed cadres of bureaucrats beholden to the favor of the man at the top, its almost complete lack of accountability, external oversight, or the most elementary checks and balances, the UN suffers from an endemic affinity with anti-Western despots, and will turn a blind eye to the devil himself in order to keep them in power. Certainly there is much in its history and its behavior to support this view. "
--------------
The trouble with idolatry is that gods that you create for yourself must be supported by yourself because they cannot stand on their own feet, being dead. Those who look for world peace from the UN are doomed to justifying the actions of the UN no matter how corrupt it becomes and how many sins are uncovered. Dead and blind gods are served by dead and blind people.

Trinity Covenant Church.
Townhall.com: C-Log: The Conservative Web Log: "Jesse Jackson Calls U.S. Military Action in Iraq
During a speech earlier this month at the 21st Century Black Massachusetts Conference in Boston, Rev. Jesse Jackson condemned U.S. military action in Iraq, calling it 'murder' and calling U.S. liberation of Iraq 'crimes against humanity.' He even wents so far as to encourage the United Nations to apply sanctions agains the U.S., stating: 'I'm not sure the U.N. has the power to act against us in a military way, but they have the right to make a moral judgment.' Jackson went on to implore Congress to determine if President Bush's war policies are impeachable offenses, but said Congress itself bears no responsibility for the war, despite having voted to authorize it."

---------------
Does anyone still take this guy seriously? Somebody needs to tell Mr. Jackson that he is not important just because he is black. He is one of the most racist people in America, and no, it is not racist for me to insist that a black man make sense. It would be racist if we did not expect a black man to make sense.
New York Post Online Edition: postopinion: "In 1971, he wanted people to think he had thrown away his medals. In 1984 and ever since, he has wanted people to know he had kept his medals.

But Kerry's interviewer yesterday actually saw him on that day back in 1971: 'Senator, I was there 33 years ago, and I saw you throw the medals over the fence,' Charlie Gibson of 'Good Morning America' said point-blank.
'No,' Kerry said, 'you didn't see me throw the, Charlie, Charlie, you are wrong. That's not what happened. I threw my ribbons across . . . After the ceremony was over, I had a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart given to me, one Purple Heart by a veteran in the V.A. in New York and the bronze star by an older veteran of World War II in Massachusetts. I threw them over because they asked me to.'
ABC reporter Brian Ross uncovered the 33-year-old interview. But Kerry tried to blame the controversy on George W. Bush instead: 'This is a controversy that the Republicans are pushing,' he raged, 'and this comes from a president and a Republican Party that can't even answer whether or not he showed up for duty in the National Guard. I'm not going to stand for it.' "

The fat lady isn't singing yet, but she is off stage gargling and getting her voice in shape.
Excite - News: "Adding to the U.S. burden, Spanish troops quit Najaf and Iraq in a withdrawal ordered by the new government in Madrid, where opposition to the occupation runs high. Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriquez Zapatero said only support personnel were left in Iraq and the last of them would be out by May 27."

I guess that they will now apologize for the utterly self-serving expulsion of the Moors in 1492, and will begin negotiations to give back the Alhambra to Islam. We are so sensitive and enlightened nowadays. Anyone knows that if people hate you, it is because you have not shown them enough love.

Love means never refusing to take blame for whatever you are accused of. It means giving people whatever they demand of you. It means never making a moral judgment. It means talk instead of action. It means never having to say that you believe anything.
