A vehicle for venting on philosophy, religion, and the general state of things. Proprietor: C. W. Powell

Broken spirit: "In recent years, national surveys indicate that an overwhelming majority of Native Americans are not offended by the use of Native American names and symbols by schools.

Yet, the NCAA has ruled that any college with a Native American nickname or logo that is deemed racially offensive would be banned from using them in postseason tournaments.

No more Fighting Illini or Florida State Seminoles to stir up hoops-crazy crowds during March Madness."

Why do we keep allowing a bunch of social sissies and latte-sippers to strip our language of vitality and energy? There was a time when we learned that "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me." Only sissies would cry over being called names.

Maybe we should name all the teams the "Wusses" and be done with it.
