Prayer on Psalm 20: Trust in Christ alone.

Our precious Father, we praise and magnify Your name. You have commanded us to
pray for the coming of your Kingdom, of which the kingdom if Israel was a type, most
importantly the kingdom of David.

How precious to know that we may cry unto you on behalf of your kingdom in the day
of trouble and distress. You have not promised us an easy time, O Father, but that it is
through many tribulations that we enter into the kingdom of Heaven. You are our
refuge and out fortress and we will trust in You.

By faith we have offered unto you the offering that you have required for sin, the
sprinkling of the blood of Jesus, for we have believed He suffered and died for our
sins. You will not despise this offering, O Father, for He is Your only begotten Son,
and Your burnt sacrifice. You do not require the blood of our lives, because of His
freewill offering up of Himself as are Surety. You did not spare to send us your Son, so
we know Your good will toward us, and will not spare to send us Your Holy Spirit to
fulfill all the desires of your heart toward us and to fulfill all your counsel.
We will rejoice in Your salvation and in the Name of Jesus Christ, our God and our
Savior we will lift our banners, for we are not ashamed to be called Christians, for He
has given His name to us. O precious Father, we know that You will fulfill all the
petitions of our King and Lord, Your Only Begotten Son, Jesus our Redeemer.

You raised Him from the dead, dear Father; yea, He came forth by His Own Power and
the power of the Holy Spirit, for He offered up Himself and it was not possible that
death could hold Him. You saved your Messiah, Your anointed One, for you heard
Him from the Cross; and how much more will You hear Him from His eternal throne
at Your right hand.

There are those who trust in political power; in guns and planes and tanks and bombs.
We thank you for warriors, O Lord, and you commanded your people often to take the
sword for the cause of righteousness, but how vain it is to guard the city, if You do not
preserve it. We thank, Your our God for the women and men of this congregation who
have served in the military, for we know that often it is your will that we so contend.

But though we contend, we will put our trust in your attributes, O Lord, in your Name
which is the source of all power, wisdom, beauty, goodness, knowledge, and truth.
Those who trust in earthy power, fall and do not rise, but we are risen by your eternal
life and shall not be cast down. You will hear when we call upon you.

Prayer for June 9, 2013

“1 The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend
thee; 2 Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion; 3
Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah. 4 Grant thee
according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. 5 We will rejoice in thy
salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all
thy petitions. 6 ¶ Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him
from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. 7 Some trust in
chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. 8
They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. 9 Save, LORD:
let the king hear us when we call.” (Ps 20:1-9 AV)
