Byron York on Tom DeLay & Ronnie Earle on National Review Online: "On several occasions in the film, Earle engages in monologues on what he believes is the sinister effect of money in politics. 'The root of the evil of the corporate and large-monied interest domination of politics is money,' Earle says as he takes the filmmakers on a nighttime drive around Austin. 'This is in the Bible. This isn't rocket science. The root of all evil truly is money, especially in politics. People talk about how money is the mother's milk of politics. Well, it's the devil's brew. And what we've got to do, we've got to turn off the tap.'"
=============
If you are going to quote the Bible, you should at least quote it right. There is no verse in the Bible that says, "Money is the root of all evil." What the Bible says is, "The love of money is the root of all evil" [1Timothy 6:10]. But I guess Earle reads the Bible the way he makes indictments: pick and choose and follow your political agenda. (sigh)
HUD chief foresees a 'whiter' Big Easy - Nation/Politics - The Washington Times, America's Newspaper: "A Bush Cabinet officer predicted this week that New Orleans likely will never again be a majority black city, and several black officials are outraged. "
=====================

It's good to get a little comic relief now and then. The black slave masters would rather have their black slaves back on the plantation under the sea in New Orleans where they can depend upon their votes to get two democratic senators from Louisiana than they would to have them immigrate to other "republican" states where their votes might be diluted. Aren't these wonderful people? the members of the "Black Caucus" in Washington, I mean.

The Sky Is [Still] Falling!

Independent Online Edition: "Super-powerful hurricanes now hitting the United States are the 'smoking gun' of global warming, one of Britain's leading scientists believes. "
===========
How the world suffers from junk science! Hitler was convinced that evolution "proved" that the white race was superior, having evolved farther than "lesser breeds." Lenin would teach the world "scientific socialism." Freud said that hysteria in women caused them to charge men with sexual abuse, having reversed cause and effect to protect a friend accused of sexual abuse. Margaret Mead cooked the books in Samoa, founding an entire "science" on fraud.

Now those who want to rid the world of lesser people follow the religion of environmentalism. I wonder how many careers will be ruined and how many innocent people will have to die before this false god is exposed. "The sky is falling; the sky is falling!" said Chicken Little. It was only an acorn, afterall, but who pays attention to fact when hysteria is loose in the land?

1 Timothy 6:20 "O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called...."

Misunderestimated Again: Bush and Recovery from Katrina "George W. Bush has more than three years left in office to implement this strategy. Let his enemies relax in the dubious assumption that they have him on the ropes. That belief has betrayed them many times in the past. It is his conservative allies who need to pay close attention, and understand that he knows and understands strategy in a way no other president ever has."

Spin Machine? Posted by Picasa

Bill Clinton, Beyond the White House: "The irony is that no one would have believed that Clinton -- the king of spin, who went out under a cloud of indecency five years ago -- could climb back to such credibility. Monica is fading and he's backlit now by his disciplined handling of the economy, the unsought comparisons of how well FEMA used to perform under his watch and the enlightened nature of his global activism."
=====
Only a liberal could spin a story about how the age of spin is gone. Absolutely amazing, Tina. [Tina Brown in the Washington Post] Did you do your research on the response of FEMA to Andrew and other disasters under Clinton's watch? Of course you didn't. You just spin and declare you haven't. Spin the Spin.

Mike Adams Strikes Again

Moon over Pikes Peak, April, 2003 Posted by Picasa

Mike S. Adams: Sugar Mountain: "I learned a lot about both the 60s and liberalism, just by spending four days in the mountains with that former hippie. I wrote this column to pass on what I learned. I would hate for my readers to have to experience such a trip firsthand in order to get the knowledge I obtained through so much frustration."

The Nanny State

Dennis Prager: The feminization of society: Judeo-Christian values: part XXII: " The latter is what is happening in America. The Left has been successful in supplanting masculine virtues with feminine ones. That is why 'compassion' is probably the most frequently cited value. That is why the further left you go, the greater the antipathy to those who make war. Indeed, universities, the embodiment of feminist emotionality and anti-Judeo-Christian values, ban military recruiters and oppose war-themed names for their sports teams."

=========================
My mother had only an eighth grade education, but she had it right. Women want to take care of their husbands and their children. If you put them into places of authority in government, before long the government will want to take care of every body. The hen-pecked husband is a slave to his care-giver, and the hen-pecked citizen is a slave to his feminized government.

The Future Is in Our Own Hands, Isn't It?

As was the case with Katrina, experts say the federal government hasn't done enough to prepare. "L.A. Quake Damage Would Dwarf Hurricane Katrina."

WASHINGTON -- As many as 18,000 people dead. More than $250 billion in damages. Hundreds of thousands of people left homeless. That's not the latest estimate of Hurricane Katrina's toll on the Gulf Coast. That's a worst-case scenario if a major earthquake were to hit Los Angeles.
...

As was the case with Katrina, experts say the federal government hasn't done enough to prepare. "
=========

Ge 11:4 "And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth."

It was very sensible, you know:

There may be another flood, they said to each other at Babel. We have to build a tower big enough so that we can escape. By our collective action we can escape the ravages of nature that we refuse to believe are under the control of the Creator. This is the only solution. We will be scattered and destroyed by the forces of impersonal nature. We are in this on our own. There is no God and there is no power except our collective power.

The alternative that some old fogies talk about is stupid. They talk about repentance and faith and trust in God. How dumb is that? We make our own heaven and earth. Hence, the tower. People in the future will praise us for our foresight.

God, as usual, writes the final chapter on human endeavors:

"Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth." Gen. 11:7-9

Yes, It Will Be Rebuilt

New Orleans will be rebuilt. It is port to the greatest commercial river system in the world. Huge amounts of the basic stuff that makes America live pass one way or another through the ports at the mouth of the Mississippi: oil, agricultural and industrial stuff, and raw materials. It will come back. It would be good if it would be done by private enterprise and become a good, solid Republican city, but that would be a pipe dream, I suppose. We will see.
Hurricane DVD Meant For New Orleans Sat On Shelf: "As far back as September 2002, FEMA had met with city and church leaders to discuss the problem of evacuating people who lacked transportation.
But problems arose. Among them was a concern that residents who gave their neighbors a lift out of the city could face legal liability if something went wrong, according to the Times.
Legislation was introduced last year to release drivers from liability in the event of a hurricane. But it was opposed in the Louisiana House by members who were concerned that drunken drivers could escape responsibility for an accident if they were transporting evacuees."
===============

Does this article raise the odor of trial lawyers? Will we have an investigation to see what role the litigation disease, fueled by trial lawyers, had in the deaths of the poor in New Orleans? Hmmmmm? Probably not. Any more than we will have a report on the role that environmentalism had in limiting repair to the levees, for fear of harming a snail or crawdad.

Do ideas have consequences? Does the Nanny State really take care of us. See my article at the Basket of Figs website: The Nanny Church in the Nanny State.

Both wars on poverty are being lost. Is there a relationship?

A Poverty of Thought: "The senator [Barack Obama], 44, is just 30 months older than the 'war on poverty' that President Johnson declared in January 1964. Since then the indifference that is as bad as active malice has been expressed in more than $6.6 trillion of anti-poverty spending, strictly defined."
=======
We are losing the wars against both kinds of poverty. Ignorance of basic princples of thought, morals, religion, and law abounds on every side, in spite of trillions of local, state, federal, and foundation grants to education. “Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it?” (Pr 17:16 av)

I have taken a few digs at George Will about his belief that there is no intelligence in the design of a penquin, but this is a good article. Will knows nothing about the God of the Bible, but sometimes makes sense when he talks about things he knows about.

Shame! Shame!

Typical Media Type Posted by Picasa

Jack Kelly: No shame: "Jason van Steenwyk is a Florida Army National Guardsman who has been mobilized six times for hurricane relief. He notes that:
'The federal government pretty much met its standard time lines, but the volume of support provided during the 72-96 hour was unprecedented. The federal response here was faster than Hugo, faster than Andrew, faster than Iniki, faster than Francine and Jeanne.'"
=========

Well, well, well. Maybe the real scandal over Katrina was the bias of the news reporting in trying to pin something else on Bush, and the vulture like response of the Democratic partisans who will tell any lie, magnify any failing, and gleefully pounce on any carcass, real or perceived, in order to chase some illusion, no matter how faint, that the American people would want them back in power in Washington. Your heroes are Ted Kennedy, Jesse Jackson, Barbara Boxer, and Barbra Streisand, right?

Now it appears that most of the people in N.O. did really escape after all.

More of the Jack Kelly article:

"Journalists who are long on opinions and short on knowledge have no idea what is involved in moving hundreds of tons of relief supplies into an area the size of England in which power lines are down, telecommunications are out, no gasoline is available, bridges are damaged, roads and airports are covered with debris, and apparently have little interest in finding out.

"So they libel as a "national disgrace" the most monumental and successful disaster relief operation in world history.

"I write this column a week and a day after the main levee protecting New Orleans breached. In the course of that week:

"More than 32,000 people have been rescued, many plucked from rooftops by Coast Guard helicopters.

"The Army Corps of Engineers has all but repaired the breaches and begun pumping water out of New Orleans.

"Shelter, food and medical care have been provided to more than 180,000 refugees."

Shame, shame, shame.

Did the Lord Do This?

"Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done [it]?" (Am 3:6 AV)

RealClearPolitics: "Instead of turning the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina into a new opportunity for partisan finger-pointing, Congress ought to be working to make sure that government agencies can handle the next disaster, possibly a major terrorist attack. This may have been the worst natural disaster in American history, but it might not be the worst that al Qaeda could unleash if it got its hands on nuclear or biological weapons. " [M. Kondracke]

The government was tardy, confused, and disorganized on every level, city, state, and federal in the aftermath of Katrina. Or so it seems. Of course, when there is widespread disaster it is right and proper to look to government, for this is one of the reasons that God has ordained government, to co-ordinate our united efforts. These thoughts are not aimed at the proper role of government.

But self-government is the foundation of all effective government. The police are to protect us from lawbreakers, but what if the police are lawbreakers? Government may protect us from looters, but what if the government is the chief looter of all, piling beaurocracy upon beaurocracy in order to "eat out the substance of our people," as the Declaration of Independence puts it.

Why the massive beaurocracies in the United States, the ones that got in the way of each other, stumbling around after Katrina, jockying for power, and pointing the finger at each other?

Maybe we as a people need to take a look at our basic value system. In New Orleans, the people who suffered the most were the poor: the same people that government has spent billions and billions of dollars in various relentless wars on poverty and disadvantage since Roosevelt's New Deal. Have these wars on poverty had anything to do with the massive increase in beauocracies that have been built at every level of government in the last 70 years or so?

In the days of trouble people throw their idols to the moles and the bats. [Isaiah 2:20] One of the chief idols of the American people is government itself, for we have learned to look to government to save us from every imaginable evil. We have built a veritable Babylon of government, most of it designed to make a "Great Society" where people never have to be uncomfortable, suffer any indignity, or be without any desire. We have pretended that all religions are the same, all life-styles of equal moral worth, that choices have nothing to do with outcomes, and that every person should be protected against the results of breaking any one of God's commandments. In sowing to the wind, men reap the whirlwind, and Katrina will be nothing compared what might be. This is not a Democratic or a Republican issue, nor a conservative or liberal one. The worship of idols bring bipartisan wrath, for God is no respecter of persons. A vote for George Bush does not bring indulgence in the day of judgment [nor does a vote against him].

Are we now beginning to pay the price for a turning away from trust in God to the idols of Babylon? A Savior must be all-wise, all-powerful, and all-intrusive. Those who would make the Babylon the savior must make her all-wise, all-powerful, and all-intrusive--in other words, she must be made divine.

Even Christians have been a party to this idolatry: those who read their Bible and presume to speak for God, but who insist that God has nothing to do with anything that takes place on the earth, as if God were blind, deaf, and without values, that He is not present in the fall of the sparrow or does not number the hairs of our head. If God is not involved in the earth, where shall men turn in the day of trouble but to government and government's idols? If God cannot or will not do everything, then to whom shall we turn? We should expect such response from the atheist who believes in no God, but should not those who believe in the Lord Jesus have the faith of David, "Ps 27:13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living"? Why should we serve dead gods who can do neither good nor evil, nor deliver us at all.

God is not like the idols described by Jeremiah, "They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good." [Jer. 10:5] Those who would deprive God of activity in the world are as blind, deaf, and ignorant as the gods they serve [Psalm 115].

“For the eyes of the Lord [are] over the righteous, and his ears [are open] unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord [is] against them that do evil.” (1Pe 3:12 AV)

The Lord certainly does have eyes, and they wander to and fro throughout the earth to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. [2Ch 16:9] It is practical atheism to believe otherwise.

As an example of an inflated trust in government read the article in the Washington Post, praising Newt Gingrich for his solution to the problem: a new massive super-beaurocracy, as big as the disaster!! The Post calls it "thinking outside the box," would you believe? It is really the same box we have been in for many years, and the box is feeling the strain. To really think outside the box, we should dismantle the Welfare State. Go figure. Click here

We must stop our lying.

God has His way! Posted by Picasa

Na 1:3 The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.

It won't do to continue to deceive ourselves. The God and Father of our Lord Jesus is a consuming fire, according to Hebrews 11. We have seen the power of the fire on 9-11. We have seen the whirlwind on our southern coast. Will we also see the shaking of the earth, the plague, war and desolation? We must immediately stop our lying if we are to survive.

We must stop lying to ourselves that all men worship the same God. That idea came from the imaginations of wicked men, not from the Scripture.

We must stop lying to ourselves that God will not judge the earth in righteousness and will bring wrath upon all those who worship idols.

7 Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.
8 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
9 He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?
10 He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?
11 The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity. --Psalm 94:7-11

We must stop lying to ourselves that we can build a good natiion by pretending that all men are good and have the well-being of others at heart. This is to make the good prey to the wicked. Those who turn evil into good and those who turn good into evil are both an abomination to the Creator.

We must stop lying to ourselves that there is no wise and good Creator who made all things; yes, even penguins, George Will. Though they don't convince you of intelligent design, that just proves your apostate intelligence.

We must stop lying and slandering to gain political power. The wicked use arrows to hurt and maim [ Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity: Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words: That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not. --Psalm 64:2-4]

We must stop lying about God, that He has had nothing to do with the tragedies that come to men: “Thy prophets have seen vain and foolish things for thee: and they have not discovered thine iniquity, to turn away thy captivity; but have seen for thee false burdens and causes of banishment.” (La 2:14 AV) The prophets of Israel did not call the people to repentance but dreamed up false reasons for their troubles.

We must stop lying about the Church of Jesus Christ, as if He died on the cross to make people rich, to entertain people, to make them feel good, to fleece people of their money. We must chase the false prophets from our churches and seek those who preach the gospel and call men to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

16 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD.
17 They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.
18 For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?
19 Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.
--Jeremiah 23:16-19

We must stop lying about the state, as if it can solve all our problems and overcome the sins and inquitites that spread across over our nation.

We must stop our lying about the proper use of war, punishment, and capital punishment, as if God has not spoken and is a sissy like we are.

We must stop lying about sodomy, adultery, fornication, and other perversities and iniqutiies, as if the Creator had not spoken very clearly concerning them. We must turn to the God who created the woman for the man and blessed that union as a figure of Christ and His church.

We must stop lying about Christ as if those who deny Him can be blessed of God, for the Scripture is plain, "If any man love not the Lord Jesus, let him be anathema."

Pr 14:5 A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.

8 ¶ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. --1John 1:8-10

Does Ice Melt in August?

The Independent
"Senators John McCain, a Republican, and Hillary Clinton, the Democratic senator for New York, were confronted by melting permafrost and shrinking glaciers and heard from native Inuit that rising sea levels were altering their lives."
========
Well why not? Go see if the ice is melting in the Northern Hemisphere in August, and ask the natives how they are getting along. What better way to confirm junk science than to have more junk science. Anyone knows that any pedestrian hit by a car will be improved if the next car hits him, too.

Motto of the day: "Throttle the child within."

Editors Ponder How to Present a Broad Picture of Iraq - New York Times: "'Did you know that 47 countries have re-established their embassies in Iraq?' the anonymous polemic asks, in part. 'Did you know that 3,100 schools have been renovated?'
'Of course we didn't know!' the message concludes. 'Our media doesn't tell us!'"
-----------------------

We have known this, but we didn't know what we didn't know. The question is this, are the AP reporters going to get off their hind ends and go out and get the news instead of sitting around reporting the death figures?
The Washington Times, America's Newspaper: "Appearing on CBS' 'Face the Nation' yesterday, the fiery former Vermont governor said, 'It looks like today, and this could change, as of today it looks like women will be worse off in Iraq than they were when Saddam Hussein was president of Iraq.' "
===============
I think that the U.S. Marine Corps should bring the head of the fallen bust of Saddam to America and install in on a pedestal in front of the Democratic National Committee. They will be more comfortable with Saddam that past Democratic heroes like FDR, Truman, and Jefferson. Truman would have clapped this whole modern bunch in jail and lost the key.
