World Magazine Blog: "Secularists often try to equate Islam with Christianity. They worry about followers of either religion who take their faith seriously. But a recent UN report by Arab scholars (reported in the Chicago Tribune) shows that in one significant way the fruits of Christianity differ from the fruits of Islam. The report found that Arabs make up 5% of the world's population but produce only 1.1% of the world's books. Five thousand copies of a particular title would land it on a bestseller list in the part of the world where 280,000,000 people live. One of the most visible fruits of the Protestant Reformation was an emphasis on reading and an explosion of book publishing."
